List of a few of the ten oldest jockeys still riding: Javier Castellano, 45; John Velazquez, 50; LaFrankie Dettori, 51; The Inimitable Mike Smith, 57.

At their age, a fall is really going to hurt. God bless them!

This is why I got rid of my Harley in my mid-sixties…

Divisible By   drops precipitously from MSW level; he hit the board in one of four turf routes, placing at one mile down south two Julys ago he raced 14 days ago but this is his second race after layoff

Lorenzo Bernini   he hit the board in two of three recent grass routes, as the show horse at RD here, Papa/Fresu $$$$+ here

RACE 7

No entry raced at RD. Altogether six entries raced with all six having hit the board in a sprint at 4 ½ f.

Five entries are unrested creating a more or less level playing field.

This is a match race among Lease Instead, I’m Smokin Hot and Thirsty Caitlin and the latter placed, nearly won, last time out, defeating the others.

Sauced Up   that five pound Bautista weight allowance is akin to giving the filly a head start in one of the shortest sanctioned thoroughbred races, and she hit the board at 4 ½ f in her debut

I’m Smokin Hot   she was steadied in her debut; she still hit the board, courtesy Maldonado who rides again

Thirsty Caitlin   she nearly won at 4 ½ f last time out, and she placed in her prior trip at 4 ½ f, courtesy Aguilar, she does not have very favorable ancestry for RD

RACE 8

The Daytona

Grade III, six and one-half furlongs, turf course ($100000)

Twelve raced at RD and seven won at RD. Modus Bestia never won any turf sprint.

Five won on grass at stakes level.

Two won graded stakes at RD: First Peace and Sumter.

Four others won at stakes level, though Freedom’s Not Free won a route at stakes level, no sprint.

Anmer Hall   he won three of his last ten sprints, nearly always hits the board, and he adores Rd, with four wins in eight tries

Irish Royalty  the top 2026 earner won a heady four of his last eleven grass sprints, and nearly always contends, he is rested, and is an overlay at 15/1

Sumter   The Inimitable Mike Smith rides, the stakes master, he has own 220 Grade I races (no one else is near that stat), the gelding is well-rested, and won 20% of his grass races, mostly sprints, he hit the board in four of his last six sprints, winning once here at RD at Grade III level, courtesy Smith

RACE 10

Seven raced at RD and four won, once. All entries won a turf route.

This is a match race among King of Clubs, Lahaina Flavor and Midnight Strike and the latter placed at one mile, defeating the others.
